OUR STORY

Eight years ago, we initiated a workshop on mental health and sports at Ankaful Prisons and
Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital. We discovered that sports, particularly football, were a common
language among the inmates, especially those aged 18-30. Many of these young individuals
had aspired to become professional footballers, but their dreams were thwarted, leading
them to their current predicament.
Recognizing this, we decided to harness the power of sports to improve mental health,
provide education, and teach valuable skills that these youths could use once their football
careers ended. We have also managed to assist six young men out of prison, equipping
them with steel-binding skills. These individuals are now employed and are helping us
construct a sports clubhouse for both boys and girls.
In addition, we are utilizing football as a platform to educate young women about teenage
pregnancy and menstrual hygiene.
Our narrative unfolds in Cape Coast, Ghana, where we envisioned empowering young
individuals from economically challenged backgrounds. This vision was fuelled by our
passion for utilizing football as a mechanism to foster independence, impart knowledge, and
seamlessly integrate the sport with education among the youth.

Vision Statement

At Ghanaadom Football Academy, our vision is to establish a transformative and sustainable
platform that empowers Ghanaian youth, both boys and girls, through the fusion of elite
football training and comprehensive education. We aim to cultivate well-rounded individuals
who not only shine on the football field but also possess the necessary skills and knowledge
for success in diverse life aspects.
Our commitment transcends the boundaries of the football pitch as we strive to tackle social
issues, including the mental health crisis among young men and women in Ghana. We are
also deeply invested in addressing issues related to teenage pregnancy and menstrual
hygiene and promoting empowerment for all genders.
By fostering positive change, we are dedicated to creating a brighter future for our
participants, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive on and off the field.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and inclusive environment for youth aged 12-20,
leveraging the passion for soccer to instil essential life skills, promote education, and
address societal challenges. Through football excellence, holistic education, and life skills
development, we aim to empower our participants to become leaders, professionals, and
responsible citizens. We actively engage with local communities to catalyse positive social
change, reduce social inequalities, and contribute to the overall well-being of the youth.
